Our Work

Roshni Foundation and Charitable Trust has started working with tribal adivasi Zilla Parishad schools in the Dahanu region of Maharashtra. It has adopted eight Z.P. schoolsand 700 students under its fold. It believes in education having a holistic approach, mixing fun and play with modern learning techniques and technology. By providing basic and modern resources, it promotes sustainable quality education which would in turn promote development in areas like health, hygiene, culture, sports and technology.

Vision

To provide basic and modern resources to promote sustainable quality education and related development areas both for direct impact and their large positive multiplier (health, hygiene, culture, sports etc.) in under privileged rural India.

Mission

We hope to serve and make sure that through a complete education, these students have the opportunity to make this transition from absolute poverty and a life of deprivation, to a self sustaining dignified life where they have the ability to fulfill their dreams.
Educational Development
Roshni Foundation donated 25 Smart TVs (55 inches) along with E-learning software covering the full syllabus for students from 1st to 10th grade, and 25 stabilizers to 25 Z.P. Schools in Dahanu and Talasari Talukas in the new academic year. The Trust is committed to providing high-quality education to underprivileged tribal children, with a vision to transform all its adopted schools into fully digital learning environments.
The distribution of TVs was done proportionately, based on the student strength and the needs of higher grade levels in each school.

The students and teachers are thrilled with this transformative addition to their schools, calling it a game-changing experience. Due to the disproportionate number of teachers compared to students, and the teachers’ heavy involvement in government-related tasks, students’ education often suffers.

Reach & Impact

The Roshni Foundation & Charitable Trust has made significant strides in transforming the educational landscape for underprivileged tribal Adivasi children in the Dahanu region. Our efforts have reached thousands of students and have had a profound impact on their lives.

Due to the disproportionate number of teachers compared to students, and the teachers’ heavy involvement in government-related tasks, students’ education often suffers. However, with the introduction of these Smart TVs and E-learning programs, students are now able to engage in dynamic, audio-visual learning that makes education more enjoyable and accessible.
Established two new Girls’ resource centres in 2 Slum Rehabilitation Authority sites in the western suburbs.
Younger girls were educated on pubertal changes, the social relevance of menstruation and self-expression techniques and older girls were trained in goal setting, critical thinking and the Right to Information Act.
A general health screening, checking of blood group, levels of haemoglobin and gynaecological consultation was undertaken for participants.
Vacha disseminated nutritional food items like fruits, chana, jaggery, amaranth, ragi laddoos among others to the programme participants to build their immune system.
Exposure visits to Nehru Science Centre, post office, public parks & gardens, bank, zoo, agricultural produce market committee, police station, health post and solid waste management were organised for programme participants.

Gram Vikas Yojana
The Roshni Foundation distributed Kesar mango saplings to 65 tribal families in Dahyale village on 18th October 2024.

This initiative aims to promote a sustainable ecosystem while providing a source of livelihood to the families and contributing to the fight against malnutrition by offering a long-term, nutritious food source.

The school girls presented a beautiful welcome song, adding warmth to the event. The Sarpanch, Upsarpanch, Gramsevak, and teachers of Z.P. Dahyale were also present to support this meaningful occasion.

This follows the Trust’s successful distribution of 600 Kesar mango saplings in July 2024.
Bal Vikas Yojana
In June 2024, Roshni Foundation in association with Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview Charitable Trust welcomed students by distributing playground equipment, including swings, slides, climbers, horizontal bars, and merry-go-rounds, to 14 Z.P. Schools in Dahanu and Talasari Talukas, benefiting 2,500 children.

The Trust is sincerely thankful to Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview Charitable Trust for the donation and support in the vision and mission.

The number and variety of items were selected based on the availability of space and the number and age of students at each school.

Playground equipment plays a crucial role in children’s growth, providing confidence, joy, coordination skills, and teaching teamwork.

Stree Vikas Yojana
Roshni Foundation’s ongoing commitment to women empowerment is making significant strides in Nagzari Bhonarpada. Recently, ten women from two self-help groups in this region successfully completed a comprehensive course in making papad, pickles, and spices.

In addition to learning these valuable culinary skills, the participants received extensive training in financial management, marketing, and essential business skills so that they not only produce quality food products but also are equipped to manage and grow their ventures effectively.

To facilitate the start of their businesses, the Roshni Foundation has provided these women with necessary raw materials and equipment like weighing scales, etc.
